On September 23, 2003 the Soddy-Daisy Fire Department was sent to the 7900 block of Harper Road on a house fire. The Smoke could be seen by responding units. When the first units arrived fire was rolling out the door and windows. The house was fully involved.
The first Fire Engine to arrive was Soddy-Daisy Fire Department Engine 3. The attack on the fire was made by members of the department that a short time ago were Fire Cadets. The Cadet Program is for young people ages 16 to 18 who are interested in learning to be firefighters.

Everyone was to busy at the early stages of the fire so we can not show you the flames rolling from the house. The amount of smoke hanging in the air tells the story.
The first hit on the fire was a three inch line supplying a deck gun. This was applied perfectly halting the spread of the fire which otherwise would have consumed the entire home. Now comes the hard work. Enter the building and find every hot spot.

The house is near the border between Soddy-Daisy and Dallas Bay Fire Departments. Both Departments have automatic aid in this area which means both departments respond. Due to the intensity of the fire and heat of the day mutual aid was called. This brought the Red Bank, Sale Creek and Sequoyah Fire Departments.
Erlanger EMS responded to provide aid to the citizens and firefighters and Hamilton County Rescue provided cool drinks for the firefighters drained of energy by the heat and hard work. Soddy-Daisy Police assisted the firefighters and controlled traffic. Hamilton County Sheriff Officers arrived to offer help.

Everyone jumped in to help

Nearly 90 Firefighters, Police Officers,

Emergency Medical Personnel and

Rescue Personnel from 9 agencies

joined forces to protect our community.

We hope we have not left anyone out and we thank everyone.
