August 17th Soddy-Daisy Fire Department responded to a fire in the north end of town. The fire was in a mobile home at the end of a long dirt road. The fire was started when grease spilled from the stove. The owner tried to put it out and quickly realized she could not put it out so she got her family and got out of the house to call the Fire Department.

Fighting Fires is a messy job. Burning items must be removed form the house and walls must be opened to assure the fire is not traveling unseen. Soddy-Daisy Fire Department does the best they can to save anything they can. You can never tell what is of special meaning for the victim of a fire. A spice rack is saved by one of the Soddy-Daisy Firefighters.
Below you will see the care given while searching for any fire extension in the walls.

After the fire is out the Firefighters take a well earned rest. They cool off, Show off and then start the work of getting everything ready for the next call.

Members of the Soddy-Daisy Fire Department come from all walks of life. Officer Chip Smith of the Soddy-Daisy Police Department is also a Firefighter. On this call Officer Smith was the first to arrive at the fire. He took the fire extinguisher from his patrol car and the fire was knocked down which kept it from growing into a full blaze before the Fire Department arrived.
